store bought chemical peels? yay or nay?

Hey all,

I was at the pharmacy today and I saw a do-it-yourself-at-home chemical peel. It looks good enough but I was very skeptical since I just got off Accutane 3 months ago and don't wanna do anything to my skin without first asking my dermatologist.

Anyway, has any of you tried those store bought chemical peels? It says on the box that you can do the peel up to 3 non-consecutive days a week. Sounds very gentle if you can do it that often.

It comes with a cleanser, peel, and moisturizer (it's a 3 step thing).

And I think it's made by University Medicals. Has anyone tried it?

Please let me know what you think.

Store bought only deal with the out or superfical layer of the skin it can help acne, and clogged pores....but with scars if they are very deep it doens't....and after time it can lighten somewhat of any dark spots. But if you are really thinking of doing something and serious about it, go for a free consult to a derma doctor that does the peels...it wouldn't hurt to maybe find something that would work better for you, maybe alittle more expensive but in the long run with buying and re buying the over the counter stuff you will have paid enought to have a peel done by the derma dr. Thanks

what are some names of a few at home chemical peels? I have not seen any in eckerds or CVS.
I have heard from other posters that you are not supposed to use any chemcial peels or scar treatments until 1 year after finishing accutane.

You shouldn’t do any chemical peels until you’ve been off of Accutane for 6 months. A good chemical peel is "Avon 2 Step Peel".
