Exclamation your opinions please :)

I have been on duac gel (Benzoyle Peroxide 5%, clindamycin 1%) for a month now and it has cleared up my skin a lot, but it is so extreamly dry and really flaky now... and its getting worse every day.. I can't even control the dryness with jojoba oil and aloe anymore... but my face is pretty clear.... so i have a dilemma.

I have a derm appt. on wenesday and I am wondering if I should ask for just plain clindamycin, b/c I read the BP is for oilyness, and I wasn't real oily to begin with!! So maybe it's the clindamycin working thats clearing my acne?? And the BP is drying the crap out of my skin? I really can't stand this dryness anymore ... any suggestions I can bring to the derm with me??

Thanks so much guys! I love this board!

Benzoyl peroxide is one of the only topicals that does not become resistant to acne bacteria, so you might want to keep that in mind when changing scripts. You take away that Benzoyl peroxide and you take away that acne fighting power. Most of the other prescription topicals are mostly aimed at unplugging your pores or drying the acne up and their acne bacteria fighting power becomes resistant easily.

If you get the script for just the clindamycin maybe you could alternate or something like every two days use the duac and then the others use just the clindamycin. Also step up your water intake a little as this may help also. Maybe now that you are mostly clear you just need to find a "routine" of the meds to create balance between clear skin and dry skin. I think if you alternate or something maybe it would help. A lot of people do that....including me with the tazorac. I noticed my face getting dry, so I took a day off and used it the next day. I may continue that way to see what happens
