100% Aloe Vera Gel

I found some in my bathroom, says "Green Ice then below says 100% aloe vera"

What are the benefits of using this? How would I use it? Does it clog pores?

I currently have cystic acne mainly, and my skin doesnt really get too dry since i moisturize now. Would this be good after shaving? With shaving?

I just don't want to clog my pores.

Thanks

Re: 100% Aloe Vera Gel

if it really is 100% aloe vera it should do nothing but good. The thing is some of these things can say 100% aloe vera gel and that says nothing about the concentration of real aloe vera in it...because of the word gel..ya know.

Re: 100% Aloe Vera Gel

No, i don't know. lol

Well it doesn't say anything about any ingredients or anything, just one label which is the one on the front, saying only 100% aloe vera gel. So I guess all i can do is give it a try. Also i posted a few ?'s on it. Like when it should be used, etc. Have any insight?

Re: 100% Aloe Vera Gel

Yes see the word "gel" changes the meaning entirely. Something can be 100% Aloe Vera Gel and not 100% Aloe...but if there are no ingredients then you can probably assume it is 100% Aloe. I would use it all the time. Before shaving, after shaving, during shaving, before bed, in the morning, etc. It should do nothing but good.

Re: 100% Aloe Vera Gel

These guys are right. I'm a strong supporter of aloe vera gel, because it's done some great things for me. As prometheus said, use it anytime, during shaving and after. This will not clog your pores. Just give yourself 15 minutes after washing your face to put it on. It will lessen the red marks, kill small pimples and medium surface acne, tighten your skin, and rid you of mild scarring. This is great stuff. The only effect will be that your skin may look shiny after putting it on, but that's no big deal. That's actually a thin layer that it leaves on your face, trapping moisture in and keeping bacteria and other stuff out. Put it on at least twice a day. When not shaving with it, rub it in gently in liberal amounts. It absorbs very quikly, and it's not like other topicals in that it soothes the skin instead of leaving your face feeling like a gooey mess. If you like it, I would recommend using Fruit of the Earth's 100% aloe vera gel. It's a clear gel that's really cheap at Eckerds. Hope it helps!!

There probably isn't much of a difference, but what ingredients are in it? I would recommend getting 100% at all costs. Just make sure you don't get a bunch of junk along with the aloe vera (extra ingredients). Natural Vitamen E Cream? I haven't used it myself, but I've heard that it's pretty good. It also does great on bad scarring. In fact, there was a success story on this board that said that a guy smothered his face with the vitamen e cream three days in a row, and was clear for his graduation pictures (but it was only a temporary solution). Go for it.

Re: 100% Aloe Vera Gel

Grow your own aloe vera plant and you will definitely have 100% aloe vera. Just snip off a piece, open leaf and apply gel part to face.

The "Aloe Barbadensis" plant is the one used for medicinal purposes.

Aloe Vera loses its benefits when heat processed. Always use cold processed products and even then it may or may not have a trace of aloe vera in it. That is why the plant is best to use.

Aloe Vera is antibacterial.

Re: 100% Aloe Vera Gel

Can I use 100% aloe vera gel while using Retin-A Micro? I've been on RAM less than 3 weeks and my skin is still peeling.

Yes you can (check the other post for details. I put a more detailed reply their, the one on niacinamide gel.) It shouldn't interfere unless the Retin-A says so on the label. In fact, if you put the Aloe Vera on first, then let it dry, it should be fine to put the Retin-A on about 15 minutes afterwards.
