First of "Rice Milk Vanilla Flavoured" Would this be fine to drink?
Re: Acne Food Question - Is This OK To Eat, PLEASE Help
This is going to be my answer to any acne food related question. If it is not on this list, eat it. Whenever I make this list I inevitably forget one item..that is why there are many lists floating around this board...so I am going to be extra careful this time not to forget anything and this will be my answer to any acne food related question:
Avoid:
Hydrogenated/heated/refined oils
All dairy
cane sugar, artificial flavors, sweeteners and high fructose corn syrup
gluten
refined/denatured grains
alcohol
medications such as aspirins, antibiotics, and birth control
nonorganic meats, such as farm raised fish, and processed meats such as luncheon meats. Avoid pork, beef, and cooked eggs.
bad vitamins and fortified/enriched foods
You can handle the rest.

Thanks so much Prometheus, must get boring to keep repeating yourself
I'm fine when I have Bacon and Sausages, but when it comes to lamb i break out, strange really
Re: Acne Food Question - Is This OK To Eat, PLEASE Help
Prometheus: I have been meaning to ask you, what doesn't fall into the gluten/refined grains category? For example, oats have gluten in them, don't they? What about quinoa, spelt, and brown rice? Are they denatured grains? I always wondered about that part.
Re: Acne Food Question - Is This OK To Eat, PLEASE Help
Hi Legend. Just out of curiosity, how do you know it's the lamb breaking you out vs. the bacon/sausage? Are your breakouts immediate, or do they come a few days later? Thanks!
Re: Acne Food Question - Is This OK To Eat, PLEASE Help
I'd say that those things are fine to eat. cutting out all grains is pretty unrealistic. I find sometimes I need to eat something with a little bit of "substance." I eat spelt pretzels, organic wheat free cereals, spelt bread, quinoa pasta, brown rice...and I don't seem to have a problem. I say give it a shot!

So It's hard to tell actually
The reason I was asking is because my breakouts take 3 days to show up after eating the food that caused it. That is why it took me so long to realize which foods were really affecting me, because it wasn't the most recent thing I ate. Like in your case, if I were to eat bacon and sausage on Friday morning, on Monday I would be sporting a new cyst.
I doubt everybody works the same way, but I just wanted to mention it because it gives you something to think about. Maybe the lamb really isn't the culprit after all?
Re: Acne Food Question - Is This OK To Eat, PLEASE Help
it could be if it isn't organic. If the animal isn't fed a natural diet, and is given things to help it grow, stuff ends up in the meat that you need to avoid in order to have clear skin. I can tell you why the foods are bad for you..because if you get rid of them, you get rid of acne.

Re: Acne Food Question - Is This OK To Eat, PLEASE Help
brown rice is fine, Indy..so is quinoa. A lot of grains do not have gluten in them, and if they are prepared correctly, do not give a person acne and do not need to be omitted...while they, arguably, might not be the most nutritious of foods.
Re: Acne Food Question - Is This OK To Eat, PLEASE Help
It's not that it is boring, Legend. Besides, sometimes it is necessary as I forget to include things in the list, such as "high fructose corn syrup"..though I think it is just common sense at that point.

Prometheus: What about vegetarian sushi? I ask because it is made with white rice. I have come to realize that there are no restaurants around here that are okay to eat at. But I was wondering about Japanese? And have you mentioned soy products that I missed somewhere?

Hipmama,
Because the fish is raw, it is easier to digest and thus better to eat than say, cooked farm raised fish. Farm raised fish does carry a lot of things we need to avoid in order to see results, though. There is not that much white rice in sushi rolls, so unless you are eating it everyday it should not impair results that much. It's not that important..especially when you take into consideration that it is wrapped with nutrient rich seaweeds and is usually eaten with nutrient rich vegetables. The fish and rice in traditional japanese meals is also in correct proportion to vegetables. I wouldn't be able to guarantee any results though, so I always think it is better to get rid of everything on the list so that the acne is gone and then you can see how much of what is tolerated.
oh, and soy sauce has gluten in it. Try wheat free tamari.

When eating Chicken, does it HAVE to be Organic
Yes.

What type of Chicken do you look for
I don't eat chicken. It made me sick once, and since then I can't stand the taste of it. Besides, as a commercial animal, I feel it has been bred too much out of nature to be of any benefit to my body.
Quote:
Most Organic foods/meats are so expensive here in the UK
Meat, real meat, was never inexpensive. It was never "affordable". You either had to hunt for it, or raise it. You body doesn't expect to eat copious amounts of meat everyday. Commercial growing methods have allowed meat to be cheaper...and our bodies are paying the price. The organic standards don't make meat more expensive, it shows you the reality of the expense of meat.

What is Enriched/Fortified Foods?
It has vitamins added to it.

I just bought some Fresh Fish today, It wouldn't be farm raised would it?

Where do I get Fresh Fish from then, on the pack it said "Caught" and then had the ocean's name, Fishmonger's? would they have proper fresh fish?
This is getting hard, i'm starting to give up, I haven't got my Parents backing really, they think i'm crazy, this is getting harder and harder

I can't help you out there. I don't know. I know health food stores carry frozen wild caught fish and whole foods markets (I don't know if they are in the UK) carry wild fish.

Here is a list of vegetables to help you out. They don't need to be organic. They are better if they are organic, but if you buy a good vegetable wash and wash them well, farmer's market will do.
Beets
Broccoli
Cabbage
Carrots
Cauliflower
Celery
Cucumbers
Eggplant
Endive
Fennel
Garlic
Green beans
Kohlrabi
Mushrooms
Okra
Onions
red and yellow and hot Peppers
sweet Potatoes
Radicchio
Scallions
Sprouts
Summer squash
Tomatoes
Fiddleheads
Garlic
Arugula
Bok choy
Chard
Collard greens
Dandelion
spinach
Kale
Mizuna
Mustard greens
Sorrel
Tat soi
Turnip
Parsnips
Peas -- snap and snow
Radishes
Rhubarb
Also, sardines are cheap. They are small so they have less toxins. The bigger the fish, the more problems. Buy the ones packed in water.
