I have only had 1 cyst in my life. Dunno if it's related but I got it a few months after my accutane treatment? Anyway, it was terrible at first, and now 6 months later it has calmed down.. but it's still there eventhough it is dormant. How can I completely wipe out any traces of this stupid thing? Thanks
what i like to do is break the skin of the cyst and at first i dab it with rubbing alcohol so it cleans it the when thats done i let it scab up i also put vit E on it and the usually within 4 days the scab comes off it works pretty well but make sure when you put the alcohol you wait for a while to do it again.
Try to touch it as little as possible...this will cause scarring and it will always reoccur. Dry ice will take out the inflamation but you can have your dermo inject with cortisone and it will heal completely (hopefully) and not come back. Once you create a scar and the pore is permantly enlarged...it will continue to fill back up.
I've had 15-20 cortisone injections for cysts and I have no scars. There was a slight indentation for about a week or two but they slowly filled in and there's no trace of what was done in that spot. I've even had one particular persisent cyst injected 4 times on my cheek and not even that scarred. The derm can dilute the solution so that not as strong a mixture is being injected so that there's less risk of indentation/scarring. Hope this helps.
Ok, so I got the injection today. Thanks guys for your responses. It has been 14 hours but I don't see any difference? I read on a post that the change usu occurs after a couple of hours but I read somewhere else that it can take 1-2 days. Also, am I supposed to mess with it to help it work or should I just let it take care of itself? What's goin' on.. I have never had a cyst in my life and I took accutane a year ago. Geeze
For me, the cyst is usually flat in a day. It's never worked in just a few hours for me (although that would've been nice ). Definitely don't mess with it. The cortisone is doing its job. If I'm staying home that night, I usually put a bandaid on it so that I'm not tempted to touch it to see if it's getting flatter. Hope it works out for you!
Ok, so it's been 2 days and no improvements have happened. It's not a super huge cyst, but it's still this small bump that annoys the hell out of me.
Question: How long can I wait until I can get a SECOND cortisone injection? I want to go in for one today. I obviously need more than 1.
My derm has me wait a week to get a second injection. I don't know if that's standard or if that's just what he always does. I guess it wouldn't hurt to ask him. Hopefully, you'll be able to get rid of this cyst once and for all.
Cortisone will continue working on your cyst for up to 14 days (what my derm told me), so you may want to wait a week or so to see what happens. If you get it injected too quickly again, it may leave an indent.
