Just wondering.

Yes most do. However, many docs are very specific as far as which insurance companies they will accept. Make sure you check with the docs office before scheduling an appointment.

Mine does. I have Kaiser insurance. So what I did was I went there first to internal medicine and they decided they couldn't do anything for me so they referred me to a Kaiser associated Derm.

Yes, my insurance plan covers dermatologist visits as long as I get a referral from my PCP first.

i have kaiser and it's covered. the only catch is that I have to see my regular doc first and they have to perscribe stuff for me. if that doesn't work then i can get a referral to a derm.

I also got a referral from my doctor to my derm ages ago. My doc had me on minocyclin, and when he finally admitted with me it was useless he referred me to the derm. My family doctor was VERY against accutane saying it was basically just like radiation treatment in a way, it just eats you from the inside out and in the process eats your acne away. I completely disagree with what he said and as soon as I saw my derm for the first time she said that she thought Accutane was an excellent choice.

Re: Do most insurance plans cover dermatologist visits?

A lot of insurances do not cover dermatologist visits. They feel that unless it is life threatening like skin cancer, it is more for a cosmetic reason. Call your insurance company first. Because many of Blue Shield and Blue Cross providers don't cover. I work in a pharmacy and a lot of people complain about their dermatologist visits not being covered.
