I need a little advice on how I should handle acne

By the time I was 14, I had completely clear skin. As I hit 15, I noticed that my skin was getting a bit more oily. I tried to take care of that by using various anti-acne products, and they seemed to work well. A few months ago, I started getting a few pimples on my chin, and now it has developled to both zits and black-heads all over my chin, my neck, and a few on my chest. I tried Stridex pads, but they didn't work, and seemed to make things worse. I tried SaLac, but it only made my chin about 5X more oily, and I seemed to develope a red rash on my chin. Both products use Salicylic acid as the active ingredient. I stopped using both products, and my chin is getting a little bit better right now. Do you think that I could be allergic to salicylic acid?

What do you think I should do? I want to try an acne medicene that doesn't use salicylic acid, but benzoil peroxide instead. I noticed that clearasil ultra is 10% benzoil peroxide. Good idea? Thanks.

Hi i used Benzoyl peroxide for many years and it's great at zapping spots away in a a pretty short period of time but i have found that it does nothing for oil production and it does dry my skin out making it very flaky at times.
If you are going to try B.P use a low strength to start with for example 2.5% and then slowly build up to 5% and 10% if needed.
I have recently started using salycylic acid as ihave not tried this before and so far i am quite pleased with the results but at the end of the day everones skin is different.

You should go to a dermatologist. Even if your skin isnít that bad, it will still really help.
