Scared about swimming...I have acne all over my chest

My acne is so thick on my chest. I don't have really bad face acne, though.

I'm really scared about swimming in gym class though. I tried using my Retin-A on it and it just got really really red and made my chest look worse. I wash it at least twice a day with soap now and am on Clyndamiacin (anti-biotic) but that just seemed to make it worse.

Any ideas? I've tried getting off my Clyndamiacin but it stays the same (and even gets a bit worse) when I don't take it. Anything I can do about this? Don't suggest wearing a shirt in the pool either, please.

Re: Scared about swimming...I have acne all over my chest

Samething happen to me twice and I got out of it both times. But my case is a lot worse than yours, I have multiple keloids on my shoulders, so I am really self-conscious about that. The first time I got out of it because I confessed that I was taking acne medication and that the chlorine would just further irritate my skin. The second time I lied about having 'swimmers ear' and that the water would give me ear infections. So there are ways to get out of it, you just need a note from a doctor and you'll be cleared from the activity. Or another thing you can do if you can't get a note from a doctor is just explaining your situation with your p.e teacher or school nurse. I don't know how your school system works, but they might give you the option of making up swimming with another class at a future date. So there are ways of getting out of the activity or postponing that portion of the class and completing it later.

You can also try St. Ives Apricot Scrub. That works really well on my face. Or try Neutrogena Body Scrub.

if it's really thick like you are saying then you could be a candidate for accutane...

a godsend for body acne is the dial antibacterial + moisturizer liquid soap. I had moderate amounts of acne and the soap really drys it up.

Last summer i had back and shoulder acne pretty bad, but I read somewhere to use dandruff shampoo as a body wash because the zinc is an exfoliator. I have been washing with it every day and my acne hasnt returned.
