Re: i swear to god i hate derms
Yeah, a lot of them don't have any "bedside manner". But don't worry. The best solution is to know your own body and try to find a way to deal with it. I went through the same thing with every dermatologist (even the nice ones) that I went to see about my acne. I have learned to live with the acne (it has gotten better) and figure out my own routine to control it. I still see a dermatologist once a while when I want to really punish myself. But I don't take a lot of their advice and I simply try to figure it out on my own.
By the way, I have said this a thousand times on this board, "less is more". I don't think dermatologist get this phrase. So if you are not comfortable with what the dermatologist recommends, don't do it. It is likely that your gut instinct is saying something about the line of treatment the dermatologist is recommending. I know a lot of dermatologist that will prescribe Accutane because it is supposedly a "quick fix", even for people who don't have severe acne. Accutane is only for people with severe acne. The side effects alone should prevent most people from taking it, unless they are covered in acne from head to toe. Also, you metioned Retin-A. I use Retin-A at night and it has worked for me. But that is the only prescription that I use from the dermatologist. Basically, I just wash my face in the AM and PM and let nature take its coarse. Ironically, my face has gotten better. Hope this helps to make you feel better.
