help for cystic ance

I get large painful cysts. I believe they are realted to my hormones since they occur before and after that time of the month. Is there anything that can help with these?

Re: help for cystic ance

Painful cystic acne is an annoyance to deal with. I used to have lots of these. The only thing that worked for me were cortisone injections and accutane. Haven't had any cysts since August!

Well, yes and no. Trust me when I say this. Touching a cyst every 20 minutes just to make sure that its okay will make it 3 times as big, and twice as red.

I had a cyst on my chin that lasted for 3 weeks and became as big as a penny because I touched it so much. I got another cyst a few days ago. I never touched it, and put ice on it. This did the trick. The cyst isn't very noticeable now.

I know nothing about a girl's period (I'm a guy, what do you expect), but birth control pills may help you a lot.

Whenever I feel a zit coming up, I'd do an aspirin mask or the Queen Helene mint julep mask. Either will help suppress the zit.

Really? A lot of girls told me that birth control completely cleared their skin up.

Believe me, BCP sounds tempting, but IME they make me really depressed. Also I'm feeling a bit hesitant to go on meds for 1-3 cysts a month. Isn't there anything else that can help?

Re: help for cystic ance

I got cystic acne when I became pregnant with my son. It has never gone away and he's 16. I went on spironolactone a few years ago and it has helped a lot. I still got them every once in a while, but only a few times a year. It's worth looking into for females. The derm wanted me to do accutane or this.
