Zinc And Acne

Has anyone ever used zinc supplements for acne and has it helped?

Re: Zinc And Acne

Yes, when I first started using zinc, it was like a miracle for me, my acne almost diminished. That was a year ago, now my acne still likes to pop up all the time in the same spots like in a cycle, but not as bad.
I must also note that I was also taking some other vitamins and then during this last summer I started over doing it and thought "more is better", but my acne really got bad again 'yet I was still on zinc 50-70mg per day. I think it was do to overdosing on the B complex vitamin mainly and maybe some other stuff.
Then about 2-3 months ago I finally went back to normal with same amount of zinc and my acne got better, but like I said above, I still get pimples on my face and my back is another story (it can get really bad regardless).
But yeah, I think zinc can help with a very notible difference.

Re: Zinc And Acne

Zinc helps them heal a lot faster for me. Usually just whiteheads too, not inflammed pimples.

How much were you taking when it was helpful?

Re: Zinc And Acne

I just started taking zinc a week ago. I'm taking 22mg of zinc picolinate twice daily.

Re: Zinc And Acne

I take 50mg a day. It definitely makes the life of the pimple a lot shorter! As for developing pimples, I don't think it helped very much with them. But I would definitely recommend it to help heal them faster.

Re: Zinc And Acne

You will start noticing a difference in about 3-4 weeks, but around up to two months for it too be cleared up.

Re: Zinc And Acne

I take 50mg, the dosage is 15mgs...ive seen no bad side effects of the 50mg pill. As for it clearing your acne, doubtful. If anything don't expect much, aside of the faster healing.

Re: Zinc And Acne

I take 50mg daily. It makes the zits heal faster. I have moderate acne. Pustules on cheekbone area and also chin and jawline area and whiteheads (on the forehead). It took a few weeks before i realized that the zits were coming the surface sooner. Now all I have to do is stop picking....
