I am not new to the forum, but new to this board. I have had acne all of my life (now in my mid 40s). Its not bad now, but its still have a lot of flare ups. The last few times I have been on amoxicillin for a sinus infection I have noticed that my face really clears up and looks great. Do you think a doctor would perscribe amoxicillin (or something similar) if I tell him or her what happens when I take it? Even if it were low dose I think it might help.
I have to say that I think it would be really unethical for a doctor to prescribe amox for acne. Antibiotic resistance is slowly becoming a problem, and drugs like amoxicillin, which are used mainly for non-acne infections, shouldn't be used lightly... resistance shouldn't be encouraged.
