Accutane

I just popped my first accutane pill today. I'm so excited. I'm only on 20mg once a day right now. How much has every1 else here started with?

Re: Accutane

I went to get Accutane today. I am a military dependent so I went to the hospital on base. How hard was it for you guys to get Accutane? My skin has cleared alot since my early 20's but I am still getting a few cysts a month that dont go away for weeks and they leave those lovely pock marks. I have tried everything under the sun. I went straight in there and did not beat around the bush, I told him I want Accutane and I'm not taking anymore antibiotics. He said that no one there was lisenced to prescribe Accutane and had to refer me to someone else. Then I got the lecture on how "bad" and "dangerous" it is.
I know so many people that have taken it and not one single person regrets it. So now I have to wait for the insurance to go through then I get to see a regular dermatologist. I really hope they dont try to say my skin is not bad enough. I have scars everywhere. Pits and red marks.
Thanks for letting me put in my 2 cents. Hopefully next time I post I can say that I have Accutane.

Re: Accutane

well at first i was taking tetracycline but didnt do any good so went back to the doc and he changed it to erythromicin that did work either i wash 2 times a day and apply bp cream 2 times a day the bp works on my face but i have really bad acne on my back and nothing works for that so i went to the doc again and he refered me to a dermotoligist then he put me on accutane which i was glad because ive heard it clears it all up but yes it does have severe side effects some of which im starting to feel lol but if u want accutane a doctor cant prescribe it to u it has to be a derotoligist a course of treatment lasts 4-6 months ive got long way to go yet lol
goodluck anyway

Re: Accutane

I started at 40 mg twice a day. I have finished about 2 1/2 months of my 5 month course, and I couldn't ask for better results! Good luck!

Re: Accutane

thanks..good luck to you all too. It was so easy for me to get on accutane. I got lucky and got a derm appointment today, went in, and immediately the doc told me that my acne was too severe for anything else to work. Picked up my accutane and did my blood test. Day 1 is complete. LET THE BATTLE BEGIN.

Re: Accutane

Does everyone who goes on accutane get an initial breakout or are there cases where a person doesn't get a breakout?

Re: Accutane

I am on about day 25 now on Accutane and I did get an initial breakout and still do but I've been told that its lasts for about a month or two so I am sticking in there. I really have hopes with Accutane its just getting through the tough part. I'm really dry right now but I am daily putting moisturizer on my face, body and putting lip balm on all the time. Good luck with you all that are taking it!
