Re: Ignorant question: Why doesn't washing your face stop acne?
The pores in your face (and whole body) are as deep as your skin. The oil that causes acne comes up through the pores and causes the actual acne. So by just washing your face, it just washes the very top layer of skin, and there’s really no way to stop the oil from within. When you use creams, it is not only supposed to stop the current acne, but it is supposed to soak into the pores killing the oil before it causes a pimple. That is why acne is really a problem from within, not from a dirty face. Without washing your face though, the oil clogs up under the dead skin and causes more acne.
