Question Why is skin around nose and lips darker than the rest of the face?

I am just wondering if anybody else has this problem. The difference is quite noticeable specially if my skin is not tanned. It was not like this always, I think it became dark after i got acne, although i never got acne in that area.

Question

You know, that happened to me too, but after I started on topicals...I know my skin was always dry there and peeling, but that still didn't make sense why it would be darker...I could see with me, bc like make up and stuff when skin is all dry and peeling...i don't know, but that happened to me too, it went away now...so, it's a mystery!

I mean area BETWEEN nose and lips, not all around sorry!

good to know that the darkness went away for you but I think mine is there for a different reason since I never had peeling in that area.

I know the area over my upper lip tends to be slightly darker because that is the only area where I don't use my BP, so it's not getting bleached out like the rest of my skin.

I believe this is called melasma. I get dark spots on my upper lip if I've been out in the sun at all (which really sucks because the sun helps to even out my complexion!). It's also common for women on birth control pills to develop a darker pigmentation on the upper lip, though I don't think that is what my discoloration is from.
