do cortisone shots cost money?

I am going to the derm tomorrow and am going to ask for a cortisone shot (which I have never had before) and was wondering how much money I should take? Also, if anyone wants to share their experiences please do.

Re: do cortisone shots cost money?

I had it done once. I believe he only used one needle but he took out two cysts. it ended up costing near $100 bucks. I am going in Wednesday to have two more shots. They don't hurt (and I was SO AFRAID of needles). I would suggest having the shot to anyone. It does what it's suppose to.

Re: do cortisone shots cost money?

I pay anywhere from $60-$120, depending on how many spots there are to treat. The shots don't "remove" the cyst, they merely shrink them down to a size that the body can disolve on it's own.

Very, very rarely will you get a cyst in the same spot again. They are great and have kept me off of accutane! The pain isn't nearly as bad as the pain and discomfort of the cyst itself.

It takes until the next morning for it to really impress you, but you will notice a difference within hours of the shot.

Do NOT put make-up on afterwards. If it is ugly and you want to cover it up, do it the old-fashioned way, use a band aid! (the little round ones work well for me) I'd rather have someone ask me what happened than have them look at a big red bump on my face! It helps protect it anyway.

Re: do cortisone shots cost money?

I feel like I've gotten a million of these cortisone shots. I hate needles too, but it's well worth it to kill the cyst. One shot, and within 24 hours, my cysts were flat. There was a slight discoloration but nothing a little makeup can't cover. The only time it took quite a few shots was this persistent son of a ***** on my cheek that took 6 shots to get rid of. But each time it would get smaller and smaller. My derm visits weren't covered by my insurance because it was considered a cosmetic procedure but I got referrals from my physician so that I could get insurance coverage. I only paid a $5 copay but without insurance, my derm charged $75 per injection. Good luck, it'll work great.
