How many courses of Accutane?

For those of you who have taken accutane - how many courses did it take for you to finally clear up? I'm 27 and have gone through 4 courses of Accutane. Within 6-9 months after the course, my face begins getting oily and I start breaking out again. Anyone have any experiences like this and what finally worked for them? Currently on B5 for the past month or so with mixed results. My face feels drier and most of my acne are little pustules and not the big cystic kind.

Re: How many courses of Accutane?

Hi just wondering a few things

1. When was your first course of accutane, what was your age?
2. How long are your courses?
3. What have your dosages been like each time?

Currently 21 years old. Been on Accutane 5 times. Acne returned within 2 months each time.

how bad was your acne when you first started (i.e. cysts, small red bumps everywhere) and where do you get acne (i.e. where on the face and is your body included?) Has your acne gotten any better over time after the accutane courses you have taken?

Re: How many courses of Accutane?

My acne has always been mild-moderate, but extremely persistent. I've used Accutane 5 times in 5 years. I'm 21 now. Over time, my acne seems to have changed. When I first used Accutane, my acne was mainly cystic. Now, I get MORE pimples, but they are much smaller.

Re: How many courses of Accutane?

My first course was when I was 19 back in college - I broke out everywhere on my face - there was not one clear spot on it - every day was a new adventure. Over the past 8 years or so I've taken Accutane on and off, after taking antibiotics - which has never worked for me btw. My courses lasted between 4 to 6 months and total dosage is dependent on body weight - I believe the ratio is 120mg/kg. The lower the total dosage I got, the faster my acne would come back. Right now, my condition is mild/moderate but I'm afraid it'll just continue to get worse.
