Are there any herbs that are used to regulate female hormones that could be useful in clearing acne? Recently in the health food store I saw a chinese tea that was for regulating female hormones. Do you think this would help hormone related acne? (acne around chin/mouth?)
Ok well I just did a little of my own research on herbs and I keep coming across "Royal Jelly?" Supposed to be awesome for acne and anti aging. It is something that bees produce and it is what they feed the queen bee to keep her healthy and living for years and years, while her little bee servants who dont eat it only live 12 weeks. You can buy it in capsule or "jelly" frozen form.. anyone take this or heard of it?

Haven't heard of the royal jelly, but you could try Vitex (chaste berry). It's supposed to normalize your hormones, especially around that time of the month, and has been shown to help acne in both males and females. I used that and tea tree oil for about three weeks and my face was almost totally clear...not sure how much was the Vitex and how much was tea tree oil. Then I got pregnant, so I don't know how it would have worked around that time of the month.
Just FYI, if you are on birth control pills, Vitex is not recommended because it can cause you to ovulate.
Sorry...this isn't a supplement, but you could try the tea tree oil. It did work really well for me pre-pregnancy, and I had pretty bad acne (not cystic, though). It worked as well as Minocylcin, cleocin, and Differin combined, so I was pretty impressed!
