I'm a male--16 years old--and I have rather moderate acne on my face. I have about 5-10 active pimples on my face at each times and my face is pretty much covered with red marks. My chest and arms have probably severe acne. My mom has approved me to go on Accutane after trying about 8-10 trips to the derm, and I've tried Differin, Retin-A, etc. with a ton of different kinds of antibiotics. Nothing has worked, so today was my derm appointment when my mom was going to approve and sign me off for Accutane.
But today, she was curious and asked one of her friends what his son went through with Accutane. Supposedly the guy had really bad acne when he was a kid, so naturally his son had acne. He went through Accutane and it cleared him up. But his daughter had it almost worse than his son. But she didn't go through Accutane. He some kind of hormone specialist send out a pack of stuff that would cure a lot of hormonal or stress related stuff, such as mood swings, acne, etc. And he said it worked better than Accutane. And it's supposed to balance hormones. But it goes on the face!
I just don't see how that would work, but when I look at his daughter, she's perfectly clear. Does anyone know how this works or if it's just a fluke?
i think your mom might have misunderstood. the girl was probably put on birth control pills. i don't think there's anyway to regulate hormones topically. but i'm not 100% positive.
The woman selling my mom this stuff said you breathe it in or something. She also said she's treated hundreds of people for acne and it's a money back garentee...she seemed to be very knowledgeable.
I guess I'll see and if I have positive results, I'll tell you guys.
I know there are progesterone creams that you rub into your skin to help balance out hormone levels and there is also the birth control patch so I guess you could say yes there are topical hormonal treatments but as for topical FACIAL hormonal treatments? That I don't know... interesting though

Well, both products are from an a site where everything is all natural. My mom bought two different products: Lavender and Melrose. Melrose goes on my chest and Lavender goes on my face. Supposedly they make your skin better from the inside and outside, since you breathe it in all night and it balances hormones and also helps on the outside by reducing red spots and of course the acne itself.
