Post Stop all treatment? Do nothing?

Has anyone stopped taking medication...stopped using creams...and starting doing nothing? Can this clear up your face? I think that my body is just so out of wack that it doesn't have any kind of balance and that's why my acne is bad again. I am thinking about stopping everything and seeing what happens. Any ideas?

My brother had bad acne from ages 15-21 but he never cared about it and seems to have grown out of it now (he's 23). I think it's different for us girls though. If our acne is hormonal, then it can persist right up to our 30's, 40's... (sigh)
So if you're a girl, then I wouldn't recommend it. But I would suggest not to use so many stuff all at once because you never know what does work that way.

Try washing your face with just plain water for awhile. The cleansers can irriate sensitive skin. By the way you are not ugly.

It didnt work for me.
I thought that I would let my acne go away naturally so I stopped using acne cleansers and creams, ETC and just used water to wash my face.
My acne got so bad that almost cried.
By the way, I am a male.

I agree with Ugly (by the way, that doesn't sound right) that hormonal acne can persist into 30s and 40s. Hormones will not care if you discontinue acne treatment or not. It's different for everyone. It can go away in months or years. I didn't have acne until i hit my twenties and all i can do is treat the symptoms and hope to God this doesn't last the rest of my life.

if doing nothing worked we wouldn't get acne in the first place because most of us didn't start using acne products until we got acne.

I agree with Girlie, because some people get acne and others don't, just like some people get cancer others don't etc. Acne is something I've learned to live with, or trying to live with I'm open to try anything, thats why I come on this healthboard, for suggestions, but if it works for you then congratulations on beating the zits!!!!!

I tried it...big mistake! It was like I gave ACNE an engraved invitation to come to a formal party! I agree it may be a good idea to switch to some gentle stuff but going cold turkey did not work for me. Oh, I am female too and tried the cold turkey in my mid twenties...
