Thumbs up Vinegar

I have heard amazing things about vinegar. Splashing vinegar (diluted with water) after face has been washed is supposed to work wonders for acne/ acne scarring. You should all read up on it!!

It is a home product and cheap. I have personally heard many positive things. I will be starting to use it on my red marks and indented rolling scars.

This is from someone on another acne board about vinegar and something you might also want to try, lemon juice.

For the past 8 days I have been doing the following:
1. Putting on apple cider vinegar onto my face morning and night (and leaving it on)

2. Drinking diluted lemon juice all day (half a teaspoon of juice to 1 full glass of water)

It has totally changed my skin - it has dealt with red marks, and I had a couple of minor zits which died competely and my skin feels unbeliveably smooth.

I met this girl on a course and over the last few months saw her face improve so dramatically - I asked her what she did - it was the above 2 things. Give it a try, you might be amazed yourself and it's cheap!!

will the vinegar make the acne worse before it gets better? if so how long does it take to work?

I have an Indian friend who claims that many people in India use lemon juice on their faces every night to cure acne. She has a few pits on her face that prove that her skin was once bad; however, she said after using the lemon juice routine, her skin cleared up and stayed clear as long as she did this.

I'm not so sure drinking lemon juice makes any difference, however. I used to drink it all day, every day in the summers and my skin was terrible. Those who improved probably just needed the extra Vit. C in their diets.

I remember doing this once and my whole face started burning really bad it was bright red and I diluted the vinegar with water. I definately would not advise to do this my face looked like it had third degree burns. I had to coat my face in aloe vera afterwards to take the redness and swelling go away.

With the vinegar, she just dabbed it on. You don't put that much on, just a little bit. As for the lemon, the reason you drink it internally is to help cleanse the inside. It has something to do with clearing out the toxins. I can find out more info if you want. Putting lemons on topically has worked for some people, but I tried it and it made my skin raw and red.

People in India also use the egg mask-which will clear you for a couple of weeks and then break you out really bad.

what i dont get is, if this really works, why dermatologists never say anything about it. i mean u could say they like the money they get from you coming back to them every month for the rest of your life but i really don't think they would keep such an easy remedy to themselves.

Wantsittoend, Dermatologists don't even know half of the home remedies out there. They just focus on giving people expensive perscriptions (usually ones that never work) so they can make their money.

Listen apple cide vinegar any way you LOOK at it wont work... i've been on the acne scene since i was 17,i am now 26,so i feel i can and have position to tell you about the trials i went through from (message boards) all the "wonder herbal/home remedies"

Emu oil- 100 % joke.
Vinegar/Apple Cider Vinger /w Crushed strawberries-Joke.
Urine-joke
MSM-JOke (marketing scheme).
Tea Tree OIL- Doesnt work, and if used wrongly or TOO MUCH will Burn your skin for weeks.
"VItamin B5"-Placebo Effect,Dangerous if taken in Large Dosages like many people DO.
MIlk THistle,all those herbs,100 % joke.

Try regular Benzoil Peroxide First 5 %,washing 2 x a day if your acne keeps coming back it's a sure sign you need to go to the derm Please don't make DUMB mistakes by denying yourself help that you need,i like alot of people tried all of those things (well most) .. because i thought i could solve this in the privacy of my own home.. and going to the doctor was like admitting i had a problem denial is VERY BAD.

GO to a DERM... They will give you light stuff at first,it might help, there are so many treatments out there it's mind boggling,if all else fails there is Accutane, there is NO reason to have bad skin the longer you wait the worse it will get and don't compare yourself to friends who have clear skin.. will only make you feel 100 % worse. I am 26 years old now have not 1 scar on my face i tried everything like you guys did,i eventually got onto accutane and now treat whatever i get ( a zit or 2 every couple of months) with antibtioics and topicals. Please all these home remedies and herbs PREY upon the weakness of people who are ashamed to go out in public,or think they can do it on their own. Please do yourself a favor and see a DERM!

God Bless you ALL! And stop the HOme remedies!
Rich

Just because the home remedies posted didn't work for you that doesn't mean that they are "100% joke" s and won't work for anyone else.

You aren't like everyone and everyone isn't like you.

You are not the absolute test of whether a "remedy" works or not

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrg. Cecilia is sooo right. You are not the acne god. Look, advice is fine. We all WANT advice. But couldn't you say 'i tried xyz product and it didn't work for me' instead of being pompous and arrogant? Here's something for you: BP turns my skin into a big freakin mess. I have been to a Derm probably 100 times in my life. You aren't going to make any friends here with this attitude. Everyone will read your posts and just think 'Oh, it's the pompous guy who hates everything'. Don't you want people to take you seriously? This is really getting on my nerves today. I come here for hope and for objective opinions not 'Thou shalt go to the derm and get thy injections or suffer'

i AM NOT here to put down anyone just please do research type in all those methods that people are trying you will see they don't work if you went to a DERM and accutane didn't work, and if you say injections don't work then you've never had them before why suffer with cysts when a simple injection takes care of it. If you want to try new things it's fine BUT once again please type in MSM,Tea Tree OIL,these were all fads from other web boards from years ago now resurfacing again. I will not say "you will suffer" i said why suffer,If you've had a few courses of Accutane and it hasn't worked and injections don't work by all means try ANY method possible, but most don't try accutane or the derm they try home remedies first. People take offense to other's advice/opinions and that's all it is,don't get mad because someone says what your doing won't work hey with my Accutane treatment i got worse before getting better and people said "WHy are you doing this you looked better before, and well i am 100 % clear now". I truly don't mean to offend anyone i just share the experiences I and many others from message boards have been through in the past,if you can have one person not suffer as much as you did you will accomplish something that's all i ever wanted to do.

GOd Bless,
Rich

Well I'm glad you're so rich that you can go to the derm whenever you get a new cyst and pay lots of money for a shot. I'm a college student and I'm lucky if I have enough money to eat healthy every month. I've been to a derm before for my acne(back in high school) and he barely looked at my face. I walked out with a prescription that messed up my face for over a year before I forced myself to come to terms with the fact that I was only holding on to blind hope.

When I came on this board.. I found out about jojoba oil and burt's bees products which both have cleared me up for the most part without harsh unwanted side effects. So don't tell me that nobody on this board can learn anything useful.

Dermetologists are not the end solution for acne all the time. Some people have terrible experience with dermatologists. I'm sorry the home remedies didn't work for you but don't tell us it won't work for some.

Since I believe you are mistaken about the effect of Tee Tree Oil, its hard for me to put validation in your claim.

I've been to countless doctors and dermatologists and done every pill/cream short of accutane.

I stopped using prescriptions for two months and used mild soaps, tee tree oil and aloe vera and its the best my face has ever been since i was 12.

I post this because I dont want people to get discouraged by his statement of home remedies being of no use.

Best of luck!

Saw a post that someone wanted to know where to buy cider vinegar. It's at the grocery with the white vinegar. It's a brownish color, and usually a few cents more than the white vinegar. Good luck finding it!!
