Post How much have you paid your acne to go away?

I feel like I'm losing my mind and all of my money because of my acne. I'm finally on accutane (only a week into it) and scared that if it doesn't work I'll be back at square one and broke. Sometimes I think I would pay anything to have clear skin...sometimes I think I already have. When I add up the cost of all the topicals, face washes, oral drugs, vitamins, peels, masks, diet changes, derm appointments, blood work, and moisturizers, I get a depressing number.

So to all the acne suffers out there that know you cannot put a price on self esteem, help me feel better about spending a boatload of cash for thousands of products that made my skin worse. Thanks, Annie

Annie I can totally relate. It is difficult to have acne and not knowing how to make it go away is completely frustrating. My advice is to go ahead with your Accutane treatment, but if you experience ANY serious side effects (extreme depression, vision changes, etc) then STOP taking it immediately. However, know that Accutane is not a cure all for everyone. But it may work for you. I wish you the best. Good luck.

Oh God, I may have only had acne for four years but I have tried so many things. Cleansers, creams, masks, prescriptions. It all really adds up.

I spent about $400 on OTC, topicals, derm appts, make up, etc. before finding my cure. Now, I still spend a good deal of cash on vitamins. I'd say about $50 per month...
