Re: Fighting The Retin A Flakes

Moisturizing barely helps... When I was on Retin-A I had to put on moisturizer 4-5 times a day just to keep my skin from cracking off my face. It cleared my cystic acne after 3 months but I'll be damned if I'd go through that again. My left cheek is still red from it and I used it 2 years ago.

That said I guess theres nothing you can do but moisturize constantly.

Re: Fighting The Retin A Flakes

I would say to use the retinA a little less frequently and use a mild (very mild) scrub to get rid of the flakes. But only if you just have flakes. If you are also red and irritated, don't use any type of scrub. Also, use a good moisturizer. I use Vanicream every morning and night. I don't reapply it because I wear make up. I couldn't stand not being able to wear make up because the flakes were so bad, so I just decreased the number of nights that I used the retinA micro.

Re: Fighting The Retin A Flakes

I was breaking out if I applied an oil free moisturizer more than 2x per day. It didn't stop the burning, so I used the moisturizer in the afternoon only for sun protection when I drove home. Any other time I needed to add moisture, I used aloe. The aloe definitely helped with the cracking, peeling, and burning.

Re: Fighting The Retin A Flakes

I highly recommend aloe from the health food store, only. Also Vitamin E-oil, double strength, 32,000 IU. I know it's oil but your skin needs something, you're totally frying it with Retin-A. Neither of products made me break out anymore than I was. Good luck
