ANYONE HAVE GOOD ADVICE ABOUT FIGHTING THE RETIN A FLKAES, IM ONLY USING .025 PERCENT AND MY SKIN IS FLAKING OFF AND WHILE IT LOOOKS BETTER UNDERNEATH IS LOOKS LIKE I GOT A BAD SUNBURN AND ITS PEELING OFF.............I CANT PUT MAKEUP ON EITHER. HELP?
Moisturizing barely helps... When I was on Retin-A I had to put on moisturizer 4-5 times a day just to keep my skin from cracking off my face. It cleared my cystic acne after 3 months but I'll be damned if I'd go through that again. My left cheek is still red from it and I used it 2 years ago.
That said I guess theres nothing you can do but moisturize constantly.
I would say to use the retinA a little less frequently and use a mild (very mild) scrub to get rid of the flakes. But only if you just have flakes. If you are also red and irritated, don't use any type of scrub. Also, use a good moisturizer. I use Vanicream every morning and night. I don't reapply it because I wear make up. I couldn't stand not being able to wear make up because the flakes were so bad, so I just decreased the number of nights that I used the retinA micro.
i am usisng moisturizer , albeit as little as poosssible because usually it makes me break out, even the so called oil free ones. RIght now im using oil of olay for sensitve skin, im going to decrase the retin a usage but icant use a scrub cuz my skin is kind of irritated already. thanks for your replies thougn.
I was breaking out if I applied an oil free moisturizer more than 2x per day. It didn't stop the burning, so I used the moisturizer in the afternoon only for sun protection when I drove home. Any other time I needed to add moisture, I used aloe. The aloe definitely helped with the cracking, peeling, and burning.
I highly recommend aloe from the health food store, only. Also Vitamin E-oil, double strength, 32,000 IU. I know it's oil but your skin needs something, you're totally frying it with Retin-A. Neither of products made me break out anymore than I was. Good luck
