Unhappy ortho tri cyclin lo..need help really bad

my gyno prescribed me ortho-lo ive only taken it 2 days..i was reading through some old posts about it and looking things up online and ive heard not one good thing about it related to acne so im freaking out.

i wanted to try spiro so badly and no doctor would prescribe it to me. and if i ordered it online i wouldnt know how many milligrams to take or anything.

im probably going to switch to regular ortho tri cyclin on thursday because i dont trust the lo- stuff.

i dont understand what to do about my acne because my hormone tests are all coming out fine except my estrogen was low. but it wasnt EXTREMELY low...so i dont get it.
i know they tested testosterone, thyroid, pituitary, estrogen, and i think something else....i cant remember. but all the tests seem to be fine. im really confused and don't know what else it could be. i feel like no one will listen to me or anything. i know i had an eating disorder and it may have screwed some things up but i had acne before my eating disorder even started so idk whats up...

if anyone can offer some input or an opinion or some help it'd be great because im sort of lost right now!

i also feel realy vain for worrying about it so much but i cant enjoy anything anymore because im always worrying about my face. and i cant even wear makeup to cover it all up because my face gets so oily it would look like i had dirt on my face by the end of the day.

*sigh*

can anyone help me?

OTC Lo can help acne. It doesn't help every woman, but no pill does. Just because other woman have had bad experiences doesn't mean that you will. Also, you need to realize that people post more about their negative experiences than their positive experiences.

There is no reason not to "trust the Lo stuff." It's just as effective as regular OTC.

Give it a honest try before jumping to conclusions.

Re: ortho tri cyclin lo..need help really bad

I can only tell you my daughter's story. She started on birth control with the depro shot, which is NOT supposed to be good for acne. Well, her skin was absolutely fine. BUT, she had so many side effects from the depro that she switched after about 1 1/2 years and went to reg. Ortho Tri Cylclin. This one made her VERY sick to her stomach, no effect on her skin, which was doing fine. THEN, she switched to Ortho LO....and her skin has been AWFUL ever since. She stays on it as she is sexually active and this seems to be one of the pills she can tolerate well for side effects.

I'm trying to convince her to try Yasmin, but she's leery to try a new one.

I think one of the problems and this is just MY OPINION is the distribution of the hormones in Ortho LO. It's a different level of hormones throughout the cycle. In Yasmin, it's the same steady dose of hormones.
Does that make any sense??

Re: ortho tri cyclin lo..need help really bad

I took Ortho-tri-cyclen lo for about 10 days and then got off of it because it was breaking me out. I havent been on another BC pill since because i'm too scared. But now i'm taking Saw Palmetto (not the ones directed towards men), using Klaron and Natures cure bp and i also started Natures cure pills for females yesterday. My skin is pretty much clear besides a couple of pimples, my oily skin and some red marks.
