Questions about SPIRO
One of the many reasons I get frustrated about my acne is that my doctors will not perscribe accutane because it is "not bad enough" though it has lasted for 6 years and nothing has worked (its so persistent!) and there is an accumulation of little scars that make me go nuts.
I'm seeing a new dermatologist at school this week and when I go home this summer I am going to try to get a referral to an endocrinologist to see about SPIRONOLACTONE. (I'm a girl) So my questions are:
--Does spiro help you clear up? How dry does your face get? Is it safe/common?
--Can you take it in lower doses depending on the type of acne you have, or is it an all or nothing kind of deal?
--If these last 2 doctors don't perscribe it, is it safe to get it over the internet as far the drug is concerned? Can I voluntarily get blood tests then?
--Are there other effective anti-androgens that are OTC (I've read both positive and negative things about SAW PALMETTO and ZINC) But I am a poor college student and don't have $$$ to waste on vitamins that don't have much of an effect..
