Food and acne are very well related. I'm saying this from my own experience. I have had acne since the last 6 years. I am a female, 31 years old. I never had acne during my teen age though.
Anyway, I have tried antibiotics, and been on Benzamycin, etc. All the medications worked temporarily. They never cure acne. Now I'm pregnant now and can't use any medications. Also, I don't want to use any medication. Its not good for health to take antibiotics for a long time. I hate accutane due to its side effects.
I started doing research on acne and there are several web sites that say by eating proper food, we can control acne and slowly, cure them also. I started this regimen last week. Because I'm pregnant right now, I can't try detoxification now. But I've started to eat good food like, lots of vegetables, fruits, fresh fruit juice, lots of water and sprouts and early in the morning, I drink a glass of warm water with 1 tblspn of honey on empty stomach.
My face is about 90% clear. I have 1 active pimple on my chin. Thats all. Everything else is drying up and fading faster. Can't believe this morning that its my face that I'm looking in the mirror. I also apply mint leaves paste or neem leaves paste every night.
Hope this helps someone who wants to try changing their diet and experiment. There is nothing to lose, if you want to try this .....
Mind you..I have had cystic acne, with inflammed red bumps that are very hard underneath the skin and very painful, sometimes filled with pus.
This is what I do everyday :
6:00 AM : Breathing exercise for 10 minutes
6:30 AM : water with honey
green gram sprout - 4 tblspn
7:30 AM : Milk (because I'm pregnant and also pure
vegetarian, can't just stop taking
this now. Will stop it after
9 AM : Fresh juice (cucumber and beetroot)
11:30 : Lunch (mostly vegetables, raw or cooked and
1:30 : Tomato juice
3:30 : Lemon juice
6:30 PM : Dinner (again tons of vegetables, cooked
white rice or wheat bread)
8:30 PM : Carrot and apple juice
I also apply Neem leaves and fresh turmeric paste on my face and leave it overnight.
This regimen has really helped me a lot. I am about 90% clear. I am very happy about it. Its sometimes very difficult to follow this diet everyday as I'm pregnant and I crave for certain foods some days. But I'm in good control and I say to myself that I want a clear face now, and that I shouldn't eat anything else.

I do agree with you because, even though I am not 90% clear yet, I do believe that detoxification and diet full of fruits and vegetables will help us get rid of toxins.
I have been on this type of diet for 3 and half month, and my cystic acne doesn't hurt anymore. I do drink a lot of herbal teas for liver and immune system. You can find them at any health food store. Even a regular store like Publix and Bi-Lo have them in a special section.
I still think that detoxification can cure any type of acne, even hormonal.
I don't mean to burst your bubble or anything, but could the fact that you're pregnant be why your skin is better? I know that with both my pregnancies my skin got significantly better and I did not change my diet or anything. My skin remained better until I got my period back after stopping nursing. So, it's obviously a hormonal thing in my case. I just wanted to give my 2 cents although I think that diet could certainly help in some people's cases.
I agree that diet and acne for most people are inter-related. However, with your diet, it is just so nutritious (Basically full of veggies) that of course your acne will clear up!! In most cases, if you don't eat anything or consume veggies and fruits your acne will clear up.
The problem is, your diet is unsustainable. I am quite thin and cannot eat like a rabbit or will lose lots of weight. (I have done , because i dont eat certain foods cos of my acne) I think the real hard thing to do is to find a sustainable diet which clears you up.
NEvertheless, whatever you do, it's lovely to have clearer skin
I understand what you mean...Each pregnancy is unique. With my first pregnancy, my skin was as clear as crystal. This is my second. And my acne 100% harmonal. Eitehr acne could get worse or better during pregnancy. With this one, my acne has gotten worse.
Not all women's acne gets better during pregnancy. It depends on the harmones...To balance the harmones only, we eat certain foods and not eat certain foods. Hope this clears your doubt...
I used to be part of the school of thought that acne and diet were not related but after going through a really bad breakout cycle after Xmas I became determined to try it cuz I was getting desperate. I've been on a strict diet for the past 10 days and so far only 2 minor zits, compared to some large cysts before that....i've cut out all dairy, sugar and so far it seems to be helping....still early to tell but i will keep people posted. It is very hard to be disciplined but so far I haven't "broken".
