I personally cut bread out of my diet completely about 2 months ago. Bread in general isn't that good for you period, it doesnt do anything but consume of starch.
But if you were to choose between the two, definitely go with 100% whole wheat.
according to my derm, i'm best off avoiding wheat and white bread. he recommends the breads with high grain content (based on low GI)....so maybe multi-grain is your best option?
Any wholegrain products are better than white flour. Whole grain has fiber, which converts to glucose much slower than white flour products and doesn't make your sugar levels spike. I'm diabetic and my endochronologist has advised me that if I'm gonna eat carbs I should eat the ones with the highest fiber content.
