Alright. Number 1, im a 5'9 135lbs female who was put on accutane yesterday but my dosage is only 20mg/day! Everyone is talking about how theyre like doing 80mg/day etc etc, is the dosage im on going to take a million and a half years to see results? Like I know that my derm worked with the people that made accutane or what not, so he HAS to know what hes doing, but still, ya know that just seems sooo freakin low.
And my other question is im on my college track team.. im not going to die during my race if im on accutane right?? ha
No you're not going to die at all, exercising on accutane is not a problem on the whole. Some peopple get mild aches from it, but in any case these side effects disappear when you stop taking accutane. On such a low dosage you wouldn't get any aches anyway. You certainly won't die put it that way!! Has your derm. said if they're going to up your dosage after a while or not? Yes 20mg is low, however some derms. like to work the accutane into your system, to prevent the initial breakout or at least lessen it, so after a few weeks on a low dose to get your body used to it, the dosage can then be upped.
Thanks for that reassurment that im not going to die ha. but all i remember my derm saying is that after a while ill only be taking the accutane pill on saturdays and sundays. He also said that whether it be a low or high dosage in the end everyone is still getting the same "whole pie", I just dont want it to take forever, i'd rather take more in the beginning, oh well
I'm also wondering the long term effects of accutane at small dosages. I heard from someone else that her derm is going to put her on a maintanence dose of one pill per month (not sure on mg amount) once she is cleared up. I like that idea, but am wondering if anyone else has heard that.
I'm currently on 80/day on my 5th week of treatment. I cleared up pretty quickly (i had moderate acne on my face only) but had some discouraging blood test results...
