very sensitive skin please help

ok so i'm not too sure where to begin or if this will make sense to anyone but here goes.. lately I've really been struggeling with my complection. I wake up some mornings and I think it looks great and then maybe two hours later I feel like crap because i look in the mirror and it looks terrible to me. I don't have any pimples really but do have very sensitive and oily skin. My skins so sensitive that I've really been limited to washing once a day and it seems like my pores just keep getting bigger and bigger. The thing that bothers me the most is that my face always feels so sensitive, burning sensations, tingling feelings that come and go, and blotchy red patches. I just dont feel like my face should feel this sensitive when washing once a day, not to mention applying lots of mosturizer. anyone have any suggetions on what to do to make my skin feel a little healthier and not hurt so much???

My skin is very sensitive too but I don't have oily skin. I can't even wash with a cleanser because the rubbing causes my skin to break out. I moisturize but only to the problematic areas where redness is present. If you can, try not washing with a facial cleanser and see how your skin responds to that. Just remember not to touch/pick at your face, and by all means necessary, don't look in the mirror. Looking in the mirror just adds on the stress.

Re: very sensitive skin please help

I would advise only washing once a day at night with cetaphil so your skin has time to recover from the redness and dryness overnight. Also I have had great improvement using a shower filter. I got mine a home depot its called the paragon shower filter and it was only $20 and replacement filters are only $10. I highly recomend it it works great for my sensitive skin and its cheap. Not the best filter on the market but you can't beat the price.

Re: very sensitive skin please help

hi, you could try putting olive oil on you're skin before getting in the shower, then get you self a little wet in the shower but dont wash all the oil off, then soap you self up with pears soap face/neck and body, then rinse of with warm water and then with plenty of ice cold water in the shower to refresh you're skin/toghten pores, by the time you get out the shower you're skin should feel a little bit oily from the olive oil but not to much (should just feel nice and mouist), anyhows this skin routine worked for a while back when i was getting itchy skin all the time....
not saying it will work for you but worth a go and wont cost you much....
