Question Poll...what TOPICAL ANTIBIOTIC are you using and LOVING?

I'm on the hunt for a topical antibiotic for day use that I can use after cleansing and under my make up? I've used benzamycin and found it far too drying! Can we all share our favorites and losers? Thanks!

I use Cleocin T gel. It doesn't dry me out at all. I wear it under makeup all the time. Wait a few minutes for it to absorb into the skin, then put your makeup on.

I am useing Azelex and I love it. I is not drying and it goes under make-up very well. It goes on matt and not shinny... so thats my 2 cents. I hope that you find something that workd for you.

For spot treatments I use Tetracycline. However I don't use a cream, I use a pill. It's an oral antibiotic but I've turned it into a topical. The pills are made in a way that you can pull it apart and the powder comes out. I pop the pimple, rub some hot water on it and then dab the powder on. It works pretty well.

Okay, I was about to say...How the heck can you use benzamycin under your makeup? It is WAY drying, and it's not like a liquidy type substance, it's like..Weird.

Unhappy

yes, Diva, benzamycin is "weird" as you call it.....and a female wrote the script for me...maybe she is one of the lucky ones who doesn't have to wear make up cause ya can't after putting this stuff on your face....hence my search for another topical to fit ME! Thanks for your input.

clindamycin topical solution, not the gel or the lotion but the SOLUTION form. It's the only topical that has cleared my moderate to sometimes severe acne.

Nope there is no oiliness with the solution form, I have tried the clindamycin gel and although it did clear me up somewhat it made my face feel greasy/oily. When i went to my new derm I told him I had been using that and he put me on the solution form of clindamycin and said it works much better than the gel/lotion form of it. I am so pleased with this topical and i just can't believe that it cleared me up because everything else i tried has failed.

try nuetrogena on-the spot benzoyl peroxide cream (2.5 percent) all over the face, and then apply a sunscreen/mosturizer combo. it is a proven method. why does it work? because 2.5 percent Bp is just as good as 10%, just much less drying. you know how good BP is, now you have one that doesnt dry much. also, for washing, use a non-soap like cetaphyl.

i got this method from a acne popular site. punch in "dan's regimen" on yahoo and pick the first one

Dan.....so happy that you have found the "solution" using the "solution" form of this topical.....I may have to request this one soon.

To the Jap from Flushing...I'm originally from the Bronx, so hello! Anyhows, the 2.5 % BP from neutrogena sounds fine, but I also have used very extensively in the past the Proactiv ritual, that has since stopped working and their "acne killer" as they call it contains a similar lose dose strength BP as the neutrogena. My face is just not responding to the BP or does not like it in combo with the Retin-A at night that I am on again off again using. Therefore thought I could try a topical antibiotic for day time use to jumpstart my progress. Thanks for responding!

I use topical tetracycline and so far it works quite well. I have normal to dry skin and topical tetra has not shown any drying or peeling of my skin so far and I have been using it for over six weeks.

Edited to say, I bought this topical tetra during a trip to Europe in late 2002. It was over the counter. I am not sure if drs in the States prescribe topical tetracycline, they tend to prescribe Cleocin-T which stopped working for me after a while.
