oranges give me cysts
I want to share this in case it helps anyone else.
In addition to regular acne and rosacea, I used to have constant cysts on my neck, jawline, temples, chest, back (of course) and less often on my face. About 10 years ago, I had a coworker who had good skin but complained about getting ocassional cysts on her chin. One morning she told me that she had 2 big glasses of OJ over weekend family breakfasts and afterward she developed several cysts.
It was January and I was eating an orange each afternoon as they are on sale for like 10 for $1 that time of year. My skin was particularly bad and I was annoyed at her for obviously having this working theory and not mentioning it to me. Still I would never have worked this out on my own.
I immediately stopped eating the oranges and my skin improved drastically. I later noticed that when I had the occasional bit of OJ, I would get cysts. So I have avoided oranges altogether ever since. That was over 10 years ago. I now still get the occasional cyst on my back, and maybe one on my face, or neck maybe once a year.
I suspect that other acidic fruits also have a lesser effect. Perhaps the occassional cyst is caused by lemon in my tea or the tomatoes I eat a lot of. I have a couple cysts on my back right now and I have been drinking a ton of ice tea always with lemon for the past month or so.
Once, I bought a gallon jug of apple juice and by the time I finished it I got a few cysts. But I only have to have a tiny glass of OJ or an orange slice to have the same result.
