Post dear poreoilyme...

hi wow congrats...its really great to know that two months can change so much things...
anyway did you have problems with pigmentation (red marks) and some redness (you mentioned no more strawberry face)? If you did, how did you change that? also what do you think is helping the pore shrink?

thank you so much....

My skin tone has even out a lot--that's the BHA working. I think the speed of my pores clearing and shrinking is due to taking both B5 and using BHA. I've used BHA in the past, but only sporadically, and didn't notice results this quickly like I am now. I think the two work very well together.

Question

what is BHA? is it a vitamin? i am on minocycline and retin-A micro and finding mediocre results. my dermatologist has had me on this for a while and it has made a good amount of change but i definitely still have the occasional really bad flare-ups, so i don't think it is working well enough. also, is vitamin B5 alright? i am 17 and though my guess is that it is pretty harmless i just wanted to check if it was OK for teens to be taking.

Unless you have really bad acne, very oily skin and are older, I wouldn't recommend B5 until you've tried some other options. It should be a last resort when all else fails.

BHA is beta hydroxy acid (salicylic acid)and would be a good option for you to try. It exfoliates deep into the pores and with benzoyl peroxide on top, you might find it keeps your acne at bay. It is excellent for blackheads, even when used alone.
