I suffer from mainly blackheads and the question i need the answer to is does dry skin cause blackheads?? cos i read somewhere that if your skin is dry you produce more sebum to compensate. I am currently using dalacin T (cleocin) during the day and differin at night. Could one of these be causing my blackheads? Do blackheads fall out eventually if you leave them alone or do you have to physically pick them out cos every time i see one i pick at it. Can leaving a blackhead lead to scarring? Thanks for your help.

yes, if you dry out your face you compensate by producing more oil, but this isn't necessarily why you have blackheads

my blackheads have not moved for years, except now i'm on accutane and they're becoming more visible...nice. (argh) the most effective product i used again them was tazorac gel (the strongest percentage, can't remember what it was). the thing is, most people have redness and dryness with this medication...for some reason, side effects never accompanied my topicals medications. neither did results :-O

I have the same problem. My blackheads on my nose are really bad. Plus I have really, really oily skin. I read a long time ago that blackheads are caused when the sebum in your pores/skin gets clogged, and they can be clogged by dead skin cells, so I think there is a connection between dry skin, blackheads, and oily skin.
