I love vaseline. My skin gets flaky sometimes too (and makeup looks disgusting)but what I find that works well is soaking your face with warm/hot water, then immediately apply a think amount of vaseline all over your face, massage it in and wait 2 min. Then gently wash it off, dry and blend in whatever's left over. Because vaseline's so think, sometimes there will be blotches of it after you wash. So blend that in and apply makeup. It's worked so well for me and kept my skin completely smooth all day. I hope this helps!!
Island Girl- Do you have acne prone skin as well as dry skin? I've thought about using Vaseline too because my skin is so dry but I was afraid it would make me break out more, which isn't what I need. I don't break out that much anymore, I'm just dealing with the scarring and red marks at this point.
Hi yeah i have the same problem as u my acne isnt bad anyomre and im dealing with nasty red marks and flaky bits, my skin is prone to acne but i find using alittle bit of vaseline helps with the dryness and doesnt break me out. I have been using vaseline for 2days now and good results so far.
If you have acne prone skin I would stay away. But if you don't, Vaseline would probably be great for dry skin. I wish I could put that on because it would be effective, by with my acne prone skin that is out of the question.
nooooooooo!!!!! don't use vasaline on your face. it leaves a thick residue on your face, thus clogging pores and leaving your face very greasy. i would suggest using aveeno moisterizing products.
Doesnt vaseline promote acne. I believe its 100% comedogenic and can cause some big pimples to appear on your face. I could be wrong, but I think Petrolatum is not good if you have acne prone skin.

Yes I have acne prone skin as well. I've been using vaseline for quite a while and it has NEVER broken me out. It actually lessens the amount of redness and keeps the skin smooth if you use it frequently. I find that it's the best moisturizer you can use for really dry flaky skin.
