Smile Stopped the Proactiv-Looking clearer

After being a loyal PA customer for 4 years, I have finally realized that I actually built up a resistance towards this stuff. I will not bad mouth them, because i DID have tremendous effects using their stuff for my mild to moderate acne but it stopped working. I stopped using it breifly to give my skin a rest, and then started up again seeing no releif. I was using their Acne cleasing wash(with SA in it) mornings and their 3 step with BP for day use along with my retin-A at night. I think I was doing too much and all the scrubbing was doing me more harm than good.
Ok, it's only been a week, but this is the deal that's working. Washing with Olay foaming cleanser for sensitive skin in morning followed by their total effects pro vitamin moisturizer. Evenings, cleanse with the olay, skip the toner nonsense, wait, and apply the retin A. Of course I have my first appt with dermatologist today and my skin doesn't look half bad-she should have seen me last week! Maybe this is working??? Let's see what this person who went to school for this has to say.
Signed, a not-so-loyal-anymore-PA fan

Update....trip to the derm today. She says my acne is hormonal(limited to cysts on jawline mostly). Here's what she gave me...Minocycline orally and continue with my retin A at night. She also gave me samples of the Retin a micro...don't know whats the difference. Asked me about going on the pill....I dont want to and never have.....perhaps that's why I've never been totally clear....so whatever. She told me that the Proactiv with the scrubbies is the worst thing anyone could do...the scrubbies spread infection to other areas. I would have to agree with her......So guys......listen up.....CLEANSE GENTLY...your skin will thank you...........we CANNOT wash this acne away. Toodles for now.

thanks for your reply!- i totally agree with the gentle thing...i've gotten to the point where if i'm traveling or whatever and i don't have my stuff w/me, i'll just use water, and no soap, rather than scrub madly at my face. I always thought my skin was super sensitive, but now that i don't overdo things so much, it's less sensitive and less oily. I think a lot of people create their own sensitivity with all the stuff we do desperately smear on our skin.

and if you ever find something to help with the hormonal stuff...post, post, post! I don't want to do the pill either, mostly b/c i'm too lazy to bother with all the gyn visits, and prescription refilling.

Wink

Sed,
I hope to find an answer to the hormone thing without the pill......my hubby had the BIG V after our 3rd child, so I have NO reason to put that pill in my body at this point in my life. My skin will have to get better some other way! Take care! D-
