Post Minocycline info and day 1 of my diary

Just started minocycline today. The doc prescribed me 100 mg 1x a day, I kind of think I should be taking 200 mg though since I way 191 lbs, but hes the doc. I am both optimistic and pesamistic about this drug. I am optimistic because the doc. told me this is a lot more potent of a drug than tetra-cycline (which I tried a couple yrs ago to know success) he told me that if tetra fails for 1 person mino will most likely succeed, and if mino fails tetra will most likely succeed. The bad thing is ive already failed with tetra, but if i go by my docs word that shouldnt be an issue.

Now I want to tell you what kind of acne I have. I usually develop 2 - 3 cysts a month, and some whiteheads. Right now I'm mainly waiting for the cysts to heal (which hopefully mino will speed up the process) I have 3 microscopic pimple on my upper lip. 1 on my forehead 5 healing cysts on my left cheek, 1 little red mark on my chin, and 2 healing cysts on my left cheek.

I'm going to keep a diary on this drug for my benefit as well as yours, but first does anyone think im on 2 low of a dos, for my weight. I'm kind of thinking my doc isnt the brightest guy in the world. For example, I asked him about the drug B5 and he told me there was no such thing! ******* idiot!

Hi Shady,

I was also prescribed minocycline today as well, at 75 mg 2x a day. I do suffer from hormonal cystic acne limited primarily to the jawline. This antibiotic IS in the tetracycline family , and you had mentioned that tetracyclines did not work for you in the past I just wanted to let you know that Minocycline is a part of those antibiotics. Don't know anything about the weight thing, but I am female and weigh less than you do as you posted. Wishing you success. D-
