I've found that you can cut a lot of the oiliness by putting BP over Skinoren and still get the benefits of both. My pores are finally getting tighter again with this combination at night and BP during the day. I alternate Skinoren and Paula's Choice BHA l% at night with BP over them and BP alone during the day. This seems to be working well. I use B5 gel to help pull up clogged pores about three times a week when I have several hours to leave it on before washing again and putting my night treatment on--or occasionally just alone overnight in place of the Skinoren or BHA. The B5 caps are still keeping me l00% breakout free, the B5 gel helps lift clogged pores, and the Skinoren and BHA (great for deep pore exfoliating) are beneficial for texture and toning. Skinoren and B5 gel are moisturizing which is the only reason why I get oil again but I'm willing to put up with some oil for the other benefits. Like I said a while back, it may be that our pores need to empty this oil out and not leave it trapped in the pores.
SweetJade had mentioned that all creams have the potential to clog pores--I'm still holding out on this-but I do notice that Skinoren (a heavy cream) seems to inhibit some of the blackhead removing progress I was seeing so dramatically before I started it. I'm giving it more time, however, so I can see how it really works in the long run. I'm continuing to use Skinoren alone with no BP as a test area on my chest. So far I've had mixed results, but again, I'm going to give it time and a chance to work.
just to let you know,
when i was using azelex (skineron, finiven it's all the same cream)...my derm. said that you get the maximum benefit of it if you apply BP over it. It strengthens the capability it has in helping your acne. so, yes, you are correct to put the bp over the skineron, just be careful and not burn yourself, because you increase sensitivity this way,
Hey, thanks, M. Actually, I started doing this because I read your previous post recommending it! You get the credit. I just wanted to reinforce that it does work, and yes, after a week of doing this, I did start to notice some slight stinging on my skin during the day.
I also noticed that if you apply Skinoren first it will really suck up anything else you apply on top of it. You barely have time to spread it on and it's gone, but strangely enough, if you do one right behind the other without waiting, about 10 min. later you will have white patches on your skin that you have to dab with water to blend. I wish I had known to check for this. I was in the car on the way to work, glanced in my rearview mirror, and saw white patches all over my chin, lol! Now, I am more careful to do all this in plenty of time to check my face before putting my mineral powder on!
