Red face HELP!!!!!!

ok,
sorry to alarm you, but i just had my 1st microdermabrasion today and well, i have to say i never expected to look this red on top of everything else. i am talking cherry tomato red (bad sunburn) is this normal????

also, my red marks (which have been their 6 months now) seem redder, probably because my face is so red, but is this really normal????

how long does the redness take to die down or go away, and isn't it supposed to make the red marks lighter, not darker???

i am depressed now, but the esthetician said that everything went well and she has bumped up my new appointment from 3 weeks to 1 week from now...i am scared because of what i look like. i mean i look worse than i did when i had all the cystic acne because everything is super red.

HELP!!!
-M

Hi M

I was thinking about you today. It is normal to be red. It is supposed to look like sunburn. I don't remember how long it lasts--a couple of days maybe.

Btw, I know you don't want to hear this, but you must be patient. It takes about 4 sessions to see results. Usually they are spaced at one or two week intervals(mine were 2 weeks intervals).

I hope it works for you.

Ps~ I got 2 pimples today. I know that is nothing compared to what you're going through, but I hate this already. I know it's b/c I'm ovulating--a day after I start to ovulate, I get oily and break-out, and BCP is NOT an option. I was looking really good too! I'm grateful that my acne is mild, but I'm sick of the red marks--they'll never fade if I keep getting a few zits every month.

I got my biopsy results--it's just normal tissue overgrowth(yay), but I have to wait until my appointment in a few weeks to see how we treat it(cutting it out is not an option, b/c it leaves a scar). I can't wait to hear what he has to say. Oh, and they said that the biopsied skin was irritated--I didn't know they could tell that from a biopsy! I can't wait until these days are behind me( and you).

hi emma,
thanks for letting me know...
i am glad to hear that your biobsy came out good. I just started my prometrium (progestin) yesterday and am afraid that i am going to break out on top of it...i already have a lot of inflamed spots and 1 pus head that came up after the treatment today.

by the way, what kind of results did you notice from your microdermabrasions. i feel as if i am just worse right now because of all the redness

My advice to you is to step away from the mirror. I know it has almost a gravitational pull on you, but you need to do something else. Your stressing out is only going to make it worse.

It is supposed to be red--just relax and let it flow.

I did noticed that my red marks got better faster. The microderm is like major exfoliation. It is irritating to the skin(red) and causes new skin to show(red). Give it time.

You won't notice drastic results for many more sessions.
