Question Mary Kay foundation and acne

Who has used Mary Kay's foundation? Do you like it... does it cover well and is it non irritating?

My friend started selling MK and I tried their triple action eye enhancer, eyeshadow and oil control mattifier. I love the stuff I have tried but am a little skeptical about their foundation...

3 or 4 times i've let somebody convince me to use their cleanser or foundation. Every time i say "i don't know, that stuff irritates my skin and breaks me out" and every time the seller says, "Oh no, they've reformulated everything, and it's totally non-comedogenic," etc etc etc. And every time, I break out all over again. Everybody's skin is different though..is there any way you can get a free sample to try out for a week?

I'm getting ready to try the new foundation they just came out with. My friend sells it and is sending me samples. I used their foundation in the past and liked it but quit using it because I didn't like my sales rep. I say get a sample and try it. I have heard good things about the new oil free one on other sites, so we'll see.

I have used their old foundation occasionally and it didn't bother me too much. I did buy their skin care line - cleansers and moisturizers - but I never really felt like my face was clean and it didn't make my acne any better. My sister LOVES their new foundation, but she doesn't have much acne to begin with.

I've never found anything so special about any of their products, actually.

Perhaps you pay for the convenience of them coming to you instead of having to schlep yourself and the kids in the car and haul your butt to the mall and get to the different make up counters. That's a pretty good convenience service.

AVON has similar services, - some sales reps will do that, and they are a lot cheaper, have some unbelievably excellent products, and you can get free samples.

I used MK once, and I think that it's easy (very easy) to get sucked up into the exhuberance of their sales reps because MK takes excellent care of their people. My rep has her own pink cadillac, gets mega bonuses, luxurious vacations,... it's another multi level marketing thing (because watch, your friend will eventually talk to YOU about ALSO selling MK cosmetics too and get on the bandwagon because then she makes a cut off your sales too).

They have a lot of perks, and nifty deals including prizes and give-aways.

As for the make up, I tried two different ones but found it more complicated and it was too much effort for what was delivered.

The MK lady I knew would not sell me her makeup without buying her skin care.....yeah, ok lady. She should only know half of all the struggles we all have with our skin....keep your foundation, MK lady, there's zillions of others.

I have noticed that most of these cosmetic company's skin care line has broke me out pretty bad. I tried Merle Norman and it wreaked havoc on my skin. I love their make up but the skin care just didn't work w/ my skin.

mary kay is like any other product lines, you'll find great products and not so great products, and not everything works for everyone. the trick is getting a no-pressure salesperson, but they are out there! the ones that drive pink cadillacs or hand you a sample while you're waiting in line in a grocery store...avoid those unless you want to spend big bucks on makeup. overall, i think their stuff is a bit pricey but i have been pretty happy with the products themselves. if you're not, mary kay will take it back without a problem.

I found a awesome foundation. It's easy to use and apply. It's called Bare Escentuals. The foundation is made up of minerals and it does not contain any fragrance, oils, emulsifiers, preservatives or additives. I apply it with a face brush and voila' I'm ready to go out with confidence that my face will not look dry, cakey or my makeup fix will not aggravate my skin.

I love Bare Escentuals AND Jane Iredale, however, they both break me out. I know, I know... these aren't supposed to break most people out but it does me. It's very unfortunate b/c I really like how they look on my skin.

MistyDawn-Have you tried LaBellaDonna? It is also a mineral makeup line and hasn't broken me out so far. I have also tried Velocity Facial Cleanser and Velocity Moisturizer by MK and love them. I actually had ordered those products for my pre-teen daughter but tried them first to make sure they wouldn't irritate her super sensitive skin and found out they worked well for my skin too.
