I'm thinking about doing microdermabrasion for all the red marks on my cheeks, but before I make a decision, I would like to know how effective it really is in getting rid of the hyperpigmentation. So, for those of you who did it, was it effective? How many times to you have it done? I have very pale skin and so any kind of blemish or cut leaves a red mark behind. Ugh! I've been suffering from acne and skin discoloration since I was 13 and I finally have my acne under control. I would now give anything to get rid of all those marks. Thanks in advance for your replies.
I have done a series of microdermabrasion. However because my scars were pretty deep It was not very effective in the short series of treatments (6) and it became too costly for me to continue without seeeing any results.
It might be effective for you if your scars are very surface level and it is a mild treatment so it should not leave any marks.
A hand held machine is brushed over your skin releasing miniature crystals ((hence micro-derm-abrasion) that act as exfoliants gradually removing the dead skin.
Well, seeing as you wanted to use it to get rid of red marks and not scars, I say yes if you can afford it. I got 7 treatments and it cost me 700 dollars. It is normally 150 per treatment, but I haggled the price and got it for 100 per treatment! Yay! Anyways, I say it worked really well on getting rid of the marks. Go for it.
i have had 4 microdermabrasions so far and will have a total of 13 by the time i am done. i haven't noticed a big difference in getting rid of red marks so far....how long did it take you to notice an improvement or until they were gone enough that you didn't really notice them unless you looked close up?.....it has been 7 months since mine showed up with a horrible bout with acne, but they just don't seem to be going away....i am hoping the rest of my treatments will help alleviate them
I had 7 treatments and by around the 5th one they were barely visable and by the 7th completely better. Of course I am riddled with them now because I still was getting acne...but that is a whole nother story. My skin looked amazing when I was done with the treatments. As soon as I get my acne gone, I try and get it done again. I really started to notice big improvements towards the end of the treatments. If i could have afforded it I would have gotten maintenece onece a month. But decided not to.
