I know you're not supposed to and I rarely do. I try to let it go away on its own. But sometimes you have to go to work or go out and you would rather have a bloody scab than a big ***** pimple. So what's the best way to pop a pimple?
Well first of all, I would recommend that you not pop it unless the white stuff is visible. The best thing to do is to apply hot compresses...it brings the pus to the surface. Then gently, and I stress gently, squeeze until all the contents has come out. You'll know its all out when either blood or a clear type liquid comes out. But remember...only do this if its ready. If not, it could lead to an even worse pimple that will take much longer to get rid of. Hope I helped.
Also, it's better to put your fingers on either side of the pimple and press down firmly, rather than squeezing in. If pressing down doesn't elicit any action, the zit's not ready yet.
Hey Nati- do you really have to get all the junk out until you see clear or blood? When I see blood I know its going to be a big mess. Normally I only squeeze until it stops coming out easily and leaving a little inside has never made them infected again. Is there a reason I should let all of the stuff out?
what ive been doing is squeezing a lot. first theres the puss, then blood, and then it usually gets clear after 10 mins or so. and then i apply neosporin on it. but im curious to know what others are doing.
Never squeed it to rupture it, you will force the bacteria deeper into the skin making it worse. Rupture it first! I use a needle or safety pin and poke it and GENTLY squeeze it out then apply neosporin to help it heal. Besides it's better to have a scar the size of a needle point " . " than the size of the zit " O " !
It doesn't hurt more than the zit itself.
You really shouldn't use a safety pin, as it may lead to scarring. I would suggest the hot compress and then gently sqeezing with CLEAN fingers or 2 Q-tips, but not a sharp object.
