Has anyone tried the 'Perfect Skin' supplement by Genuine Health?
(This is NOT an advertisement. I'm just mentioning a new product that is the first of its kind which is supposed to help with acne. It just recently came out in all health food stores like Whole Foods, Capers, and Choices Markets... and I couldn't help but notice it. It sparked my interest, and I've done some research on it... and I thought I'd ask what others think about it.)
Anyway. Genuine Health (the supplement and health food company) just released a new supplement product called 'Perfect Skin' (search for it) and it is supposed to be used as a supplement along with proper diet.
According to the ingredients - it IS supposed to help (for anyone who is suffering from diet acne). Check this out:
- id System enteric-coated EPA-rich fish oil concentrate (from anchovy and sardines) [500 mg]
- EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) [250 mg]
- EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate) from green tea extract [50 mg]
- Zinc (gluconate) [3.75 mg]
- Vitamin E (d-alpha tocopherol) [2.5 mg]
- Selenium (L-selenomethionine) [50 mcg]
- Chromium (citrate) [50 mcg]
Now I don't know how much any of you know about each individual ingredient in this formula - but I personally agree with everything they put in there. The type of fish oil they used is supposed to reduce inflammation (which is a huge part of acne, since acne is in fact 'inflammation of the skin'), the green tea extract helps with oxidative stress of the cells, zinc helps with repairing and rebuilding of cells (also helps eliminate inflammatory acne), vitamin E is essential for the skin, selenium is a vital antioxidant of the skin, and chromium is a regulator of blood sugar (since spikes in blood sugar levels are known to make you break out).
I'm going to give it a try very soon. Now, I believe that this won't simply work without a proper diet... so I'm ONLY going to use it as a supplement along with my current diet.
I'll let you all know if it's worth it or not.

Re: Has anyone tried the 'Perfect Skin' supplement by Genuine Health?
Has this been released in the States? Why do I have a feeling that lots of you don't even know what I'm talking about? (I'm in Canada and this product is manufactured by a Canadian company... so it may be that some people haven't seen this on the shelves yet.)

Re: Has anyone tried the 'Perfect Skin' supplement by Genuine Health?
Alright.
How was your friend's diet and lifestyle though? You can't solely rely on just the supplement alone...
For me, the supplement itself accounts for only like 1/10th of my strategy for getting rid of acne.
I just know that for me, so far... it's doing what it says it does - and that is help reduce inflammation. I still get acne (although that has purely has to do with my diet and lifestyle) - but just not as severely inflamed like before.
Either way, I only started it last week, and so I really don't know for sure yet how much it's going to help me. I'll post my conclusion once I reach (or don't reach) my desired goals.

Re: Has anyone tried the 'Perfect Skin' supplement by Genuine Health?
I've been taking it since early November along with the "Multi+ Daily Glow" and I must say it has dramatically improved my skin!!
I have the acne-type of Rosacea and all-round dry, sensitive skin. It has made the texture smoother, firmer and any acne I have been getting lately has been much, much milder.
I was taking 2 capsules, twice daily of the Perfect Skin and 2 capsules once daily of Multi+ Daily Glow, but now I just take 2 of each once daily.
Re: Has anyone tried the 'Perfect Skin' supplement by Genuine Health?
I have a hard time taking supplements because if there a strong odor or taste, they come up on me all day.
So can you tell me if the Perfect Skin does that, please?
THX
Re: Has anyone tried the 'Perfect Skin' supplement by Genuine Health?
^ No, it doesn't have any taste or odor.
Anyway... I finished two bottles of it. I'd give it 7/10 effectiveness. But it's not 'perfect'.
In my opinion, the formula could've been better... and the quality of ingredients could've been better too. What's up with them using the least absorbable forms of zinc and chromium? I'm sure if they used the picolinate forms of both - you'd see EVEN better results.
Anyway... this is an OK product. Along with a healthy lifestyle, eating habits, and exercise... this product WILL keep your acne at a minimum... but it doesn't really clear it fully.
