Alright, I started Retin-A and at first it caused my skin to turn red, peel and become dry, but now (a week later) those side effects are gone and my derm added DUAC to my regimen and said it might make my face red, peel and dry in the early stages, but that it would go away eventually.

So here's my question: Have any of you who've used DUAC noticed that the side effects go away? I'm about 90% clear at the moment.

Are you applying the Retin A and Duac together? If so, that may be what's drying out your face. I've been using Duac and Differin for about 2 months - the former I apply in the morning and the latter at night - and have had no problem with dry skin. Otherwise, perhaps the 5% benzoyl peroxide in the Duac gel is too strong for you. Had you previously tried a 2.5% lotion? I know Paula's Choice sells one, which may be gentler on your skin.
