I never had a Glycolic Peel but I have had two Beta-lift peels. (Supposedly this is what the celebrities get days before Award Nights to make their skin look "amazing").
This peel lifts dead skin off your face and stimulates new, young, and healthy cells to the surface. I really liked this peel a lot, yet I only have had 2. I've noticed some of my scarring has lessened, but not 100% I would need more peels for that. Unfortunately, my derm doesn't want me doing any peels as of now b/c I am on a strong medication. Yet I absolutely recommed the peel yet you will need more than one or a few treatments. It is a lunch time peel with no down time. You will peel about 2 days after the treatment. Also what I found amazing was that the day I got one of my peel treatments, I had burned myself with a curling iron above my eyebrow. It turned that nasty brown color (to scab and scar) yet 2 days after when I started to peel, it was magically gone! No scab, and no scar!!

I've done a lot of peels.

Glycolic is OK is you're fair skinned - In darker/asian skins it can cause discolouration. Also, glycolic is very drying and can cause a little wrinkling IMO.

Lactic peels are way more genlt but just as effective.

NEVER, ever do skin culture peels - they create scarring.

I have had 3 obagi blue peels which are TCA chemical peels. I have had 35% and higher, but each layer is a different percentage to add up to a cumulative fact. A physician would go over the number of peels and depth that you would need for your individual scarring. For acne scarring it is usually 4 peels and in the southeast region, the cost is about 350 to 400 a peel. Probably more expensive in the northeast and west coast. Just because plastic surgery is cheaper down here.

It is pretty painful while having it done but should not last more than a few minutes at a time. After that it doesn’t hurt at all.

If your scarring is deep expect moderate to minimal results unless you follow the regimen of the retina and possibly a number of peels. I had moderate success with mine.

The peel is designed for discoloration, but beware because it can lead to hyperpigmintation in places. Parts of my face are darker brown than the rest of my face without makeup on. Its not drastic but I hate it.

That said I really did like the peels and would do it again. In the big picture it is less painful than many other options, less expensive, and definitely less chance for major complications and only about a week to a week and a half more downtime.

However, make sure you see someone qualified to do the peel. A peel specifically designed for you by the doctor will work better than the generic formulations in my opinion.

Hope this helps!
