I was in Europe this summer and my cousin there has amazing skin, I've never seen such skin in my life. i asked her what she does and she said her and her friends don't use water when washing their face cause water causes acne. I found this really weird but I tried it for about a week and did notice some inprovements. Here's her routine if anyone's interested
1/ take off make-up with make-up remover and cotton pads
2/ clean face with an astringent (she uses clean and clear)
3/ put on vitam e cream
I personally had a hard time getting used to washing w/o water so i wash with a cleanser and water at night and only use astringent in the morning.
I don't think water causes acne whatsoever, unless your washing far too much. Does she live in a sunny place? I know when I have been to Spain, I have come home with perfect skin, I think the sun helps me A LOT.
Well, no, water itself is a natural cleanser with nothing in it that would cause irritation, unless you wash too much. What could be the case, however, is that Europe water is not as clean as North American water, and is not treated, so there could be bacteria that would cause breakouts. If you drink water, do you break out? no... everyone has to drink water to live. The water you drink subsequently moisturizes the skin, so why do you think putting water on your face would cause you to break out?
I agree, North America is not the only continent with treated water! There is merit to this topic as I remember my mom once telling me about someone she worked with who wouldn't wash her face with water because it caused her to breakout majorly. I notice that after I wash my face it becomes dry and red and could be aggravating the acne. Think I might try this no water thing......
this is ridiculous. i thought i've heard them all, but water? and no matter what people think causes/cures acne, there's always going to be others who disagree completely, which once again shows there is no simple answer.
