Does anyone successfully contol their acne by tanning?

Now we're finally getting some decent weather here in the UK, I've been getting some sun with the kowledge that the UV rays will destroy the bacteria in my skin. I wondered if anyone has managed to continually stay clear of acne by tanning/using sunbeds. Please don't reply if you are just going to harp on about the dangers of tanning, I am well aware of them already, I was only thinking of doing this in moderation.

Yeah you can do it, and it works really well, my acne has almost gone thanks to tanning, i wouldn't do it all the time mind, because it nackers your skin but ...... <IMG SRC="http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif">

depending on the meds you're taking, if any, the sun can be dangerous.

also, in regard to acne marks/scars--the sun will only make them worse in the long run. if you just have oily skin and the occasional white-heads, yes, i believe the sun will be a good thing.

you should be more specific about your condition and note if you are on any meds.

Wait wait wait. So if I go and sunbathe out on my lawn for a little while, the sun destroys the bacteria in my face? So the sun is good for your face and acne?

Re: Does anyone successfully contol their acne by tanning?

the sun always seem to help my acne esp. when I go to tthe beach. Funny, but I was considering moving to Florida just so I an have clear skin - I know sounds drastic! But the sun seems to cover up the red marks (as a result of tanning) and plumps up the scars very nicely, however, the effects are not long lasting. however, I do think in my case that the sun has been just GREAT, until the winter comes along and it starts all over again.

Whoever said that the sun makes red marks worse: thats only if you do not treat them and just let them fry in the sun. I have noticed a complete change in how my marks look. Cover them with sunscreen or vaseline, and let the rest of your face tan in the bed. The scars will not get any darker or damaged, and you will see that your complexion evens out and looks healthier. Do not over-do it, but dont listen to anyone telling you how harmful the sun is, either. Its your choice to tan, not theirs. And Im sure youre well aware of the 'dangers' like I am.
