Hair removal while on retin-a

My daughter is having good results using retin-a (also minocin). However, she is super sensitive about the hair on her upper lip. She used to wax it but can't now because of the retin-a. Have any of you continued to have waxing done while on retin-a? If not, what do you do for your hair removal problems (if any)?

Re: Hair removal while on retin-a

i don't think it's a good idea to use retin-a so close to the mouth-- though i'm really careful and my lips are cracked now as i write this.

i just bleached my upper lip--left it on for 2 minutes-- but i don't have a big upper lip hair problem-- i kind of just assume i do it every month. but if her skin is raw from retin a then bleach will burn her. she might just have to wait a while...

just don't pluck the hairs! they'll grow back coarser and darker.

Re: Hair removal while on retin-a

SURGI-CREAM! its a skin depilatory. Its a cream you leave on approx. 8 min. than gently wash it off. The hair has either completely been removed or can be helped easily be a tweezer. You can buy it in any drugstore. I use it & i'm on a retinoid as well (differin); i even used it while on accutane, which really makes your skin x-tra sensitive. good luck
