Re: Zinc, on empty stomach

Don't EVER take vitamins/supplements on an empty stomach. I learned my lesson once a few years ago when I took a multi-vitamin on an empty stomach and had the same result as you had. UGH! Now, I always make sure to have some kind of food or snack with my vitamins.

How much zinc are you guys taking? I've never thrown up from taking zinc, even on an empty stomach. however I always try to avoid that and make sure I eat something with my vitamins.

Re: Zinc, on empty stomach

I believe a post I read said that zinc is best absorbed on an empty stomach. Thats why I tried it. I took 50mgs zinc with 8mgs copper.
[This message has been edited by Bacne (edited 05-09-2001).]

Re: Zinc, on empty stomach

Zinc on an empty stomach for me makes me blow lunch for half an hour. If I've eaten first--no problem.

Re: Zinc, on empty stomach

god, i've NEVER had a problem taking any supplement on an empty stomach! everybody's different i guess. but i have to ask: for all you who had stomach problems from zinc, what kind of zinc was it (e.g., gluconate, citrate, etc.), how much, and in tablet or capsule form? i take 25mg zinc gluconate tabs 2-3 times a day, usually between meals.
[This message has been edited by tommy jojo (edited 05-10-2001).]
