Clinical proof that Vaseline HEALS acne scars and red marks - Acne Message Board

Following my plastic surgeons' advice, I have been using Vaseline (petroleum jelly) on acne scars and after 6 - 8 weeks, watched it peel with new skin underneath.

This new skin is virtually scar free! (Mind you, I dab it 4 - 6 times a day ONLY on the red mark/ scar, not on the entire face)

What I thought was some isolated success from my doctor is now actual truth.

Read this news article from MSNBC, the last paragraph. Here, the doctor explicitly states that the BEST WAY to let any wound heal without scarring is to put ointment or petroleum jelly - which is plain old $1.99 Vaseline. So, like my doctor says, stop letting those other derms get away with making a fast buck on you, when $1.99 Vaseline WORKS clinically.

I can't believe I was going for $5000 laser resurfacing when my 10 week treatment with Vaseline with this doctor gave me such incredible results.

I have read many posts on vaseline and now that i read this one, i really think it should work...
But i guess i shouldn't use it as long as i'm still on accutane, right?

Unbelievable! I will have to try this. I got 3 red dots on my face from old pimples so they are perfect for testing. Thanks for the info.

I have marks covering most of my cheeks. Some are dime size and others are like ice picks. Some are leaving little dents in my face. Im going to use vaseline now. Thanks

Billie,

Vaseline is safe and even recommended during Accutane. My doctor who gave me Accutane two years ago gave it for my dry lips and nose (bleeding).

So, I am sure you can use it for your scars.
