Re: What's the best brand of Zinc to get?
The RDA of copper for adults is 1.5 to 3.0 mg. Too much copper is not good for you as it is a trace element in your body. The most common supplement of copper comes in 2.0 mg doses. I've taken 50 mg of zinc for years , without taking any copper supplements. Only recently I've been adding the copper (2 mg.) supplement 12 hours from the zinc supplement. Just remember, tap water used for drinking, cooking, etc. is a source of copper because of all the copper plumbing in use today.
Also, DO NOT TAKE Zinc Sulfate as it is a stomach irritant.
I take Zinc Gluconate (50mg) on an empty stomach and have had no problems.
I've read the 8:1 and 10:1 zinc to copper ratio stuff also. I am just a little skeptical of taking that much copper.<p>[This message has been edited by redwing (edited 06-12-2001).]
